With the weather report calling for possible rain and snow, the number of attendees was a little down. The weather Saturday was a bit cold but relatively calm for Butte. This helped out Ted Tompkins who shot a new Scope Range Record of a 36!!! Congratulations Ted!!! Sunday morning broke clear and cold but warmed fairly early. The wind for the 200 yard was calm but began to kick up for the 300 yard. There was considerable wind for the 600 yard but it was pretty consistant. It was easier to shoot when the wind was up due to this than when it was dying because the wind was considerably more fickle when it dropped off. Scores were pretty high. Mike Venturino actually shot the 200 and 300 distances with his newly rebarreled rolling block in 38-55. He only had 24 shells so he got on with his first 4 sighters for the 200 and shot a 95-2x, then without sighters shot an 89-2x with his final 10 shells. He then borrowed Butch's 45-90 for his 600 and thought the gun blew up when he touched off the first round due to the difference in recoil between the two rifles!! |
